Pandora’s Hard Drive

December 9, 2008

Old Atari ST programmer John Leather reckons he has a Supra hard drive full of his old unpublished, unreleased games, demos and dev software. Most notably amongst these, a “little gem of a game” called The Lost World (here’s hoping it isn’t a Jurassic Park license). Unfortunately, his drive is knackered (lazzy band troubles). He is currently trying to jimmy it back into action, and if he succeeds he promises to share the games within. Good times!

Thanks to Jamie Woodhouse for the photo.

That’s not all: he is also friends with James Woodhouse of Qwak and Nitro fame, who also has unreleased stuff he wishes to share. So very soon, we could be inundated with a glut of new stuff to play! I’ll keep you posted. Have a look at the Atari-Forum thread.

Dungeon Master tops another list

November 26, 2008

Swabbleflange is a videogaming blog where its author (here known as Swabbleflange, but also known as Sabreman on the Retro Gamer forum) has painstakingly listed and commentated his own personal top 100. Many Atari ST games feature, and topping the list is Dungeon Master, the game voted best Atari ST game ever here in The Great Atari ST Game Survey 2008.

Each piece is superbly written, with some nice personal touches and incisive commentary on the game. I’m currently around number 16, and thoroughly enjoying the slog. Take a look.

Another blogger reviews ST games!

November 22, 2008

Good to see I’m not the only one stupid enough to devote his time to writing about games released over a decade ago for a system long obsolete. Matty On Games is a blog about independent and retro games, and his latest project involves both: Atari ST PD games! He’s currently working his way through a list of recommendations and so far has covered Grav and Pacman On E’s with some well written reviews.

Keep up the good work Matt!

STay Atari! Part 2

November 9, 2008

STay Atari? Luckily for us, some people have.

A plucky fellow who goes by the name of DMA has treated us to his remake of Data East’s wonderful and very japanese puzzler Magical Drop.

The Joy Of Sticks is reborn!

October 27, 2008

Out of the ashes of the old, buggy, everything-but-IE-intolerant Joy Of Sticks comes my new site like a pheonix from the flames … altogether now ooooh! aaaaaah!

Hopefully pretty soon all the content on my old site will be available here alongside The Great Atari ST Game Survey 2008 (oh yes) as well as some all new content. ST fans rejoice!
